Bio: Kaila, a sergeant with the Nassau Bay Police Department for almost 16 years, lead a professional life in law enforcement for nearly 20 years. She loved helping people and exuded such an innate authenticity for leadership that people intrinsically trusted and followed her. Kaila had a passion for commitment to her family, her friends, and her community. Her interests began early when growing up, she had a love for riding horses, driving fast cars, riding motorcycles, and playing music. Kaila had the voice of an angel and a talent for playing the guitar.
Kaila dedicated her life to creating a life for her son with his father, Dennis Chatham (Chad) Senter and his wife Tammy. They worked well together to provide a safe and loving environment for Kaden who is loved and cared for by all who know them. Their parenting provides a model for anyone raising a child.
The dedication, respect, trust, and love she had for her wife were matched by Tracey's fierce passion for those same virtues she had for Kaila. Their relationship others could hope to emulate but may rarely achieve. Their love also carried over into the care of Kaden.
Always selfless, Kaila put everyone else's needs ahead of her own. She would give the shirt off her back for someone in need. She had that innate ability to walk into a room and brighten everyone's day with the light in her infectious smile. Because she tried to see the good in everyone, you could meet her for the first time and feel like you had known her your entire life. Kaila's warmth and sincerity put everyone at ease; she was calm and rational even in the toughest of times.
She loved her family game nights, even trying to learn canasta online so she could win the next time she played with those Sugar Land sisters. She didn't think she could cook, but we will certainly tell you she was wrong. Chicken ala Kaila was her signature dish.
An avid camper, Kaila loved exploring the great outdoors almost as much as she enjoyed exploring Netflix for the next best show. She had an active ornery streak accompanied with the best eye roll this side of the Mississippi. Quite often she would exclaim, 'I'm gonna need a minute.'
As National President of Sisters Eternal WMC, Kaila epitomized dedication, transparency, leadership, and vision. She had many aspirations for this organization that each of the members will continue to carry out on her behalf. She leaves a rare legacy of loyalty, honesty, and empathy. She loved you all.
Kaila loved her wife and soulmate, her son, her family, her friends, and her brothers and sisters in Blue as a sister traveler and as an angel. Though we have lost our ground note, she created full major chords in the rest of us enough to hear her sing until the end of all our days. |
